TREATING INSOMNIA
• 2009-Jul-25 - WHY TREATING INSOMNIA DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A NIGHTMARE.
There are a few ways of treating insomnia. Some are good, others about as usefull as a pair of sun glasses on a bloke with one ear. I myself suffered from chronic insomnia. I can honestly say I think i've tried treating insomnia with most of the options. Below are my best and worst picks for treating insomnia:
1) Sleeping Pills: I'm now a firm believer that sleeping pills should be banned from all but the very desperate when treating insomnia or other sleep problems. The reason I feel like this is because i've had first hand experience of having an addiction to sleeping pills. They may be like some magic tablets at first, but the quickness that the body builds a tolerance of them is frightining. Soon your needing more and more each day just to make you feel normal and feeling able to function for a few hours untill your body starts screaming at you that its time for another feed. Getting off sleeping pills is a killer too especially if you do it 'Cold Turkey'. So thats my opinion on using sleeping pills for treating insomnia. A BIG NO NO.
2) Changing your diet and lifestyle: A good one for treating insomnia that defentily works, if you have the time to put it to action and work with it then cool, the only downside is that you have to stick at it all the time. Slip up and you could find yourself back at square one. The basics are to change your diet to an healthy one, avoiding certain foods such as red meat. 3) Alternative Medicine: Some people swear by them for treating insomnia. Others say there a scam and a waste of time. Herbal sleep remedies such as IGNATIA AMARA, and health supplents like the hormone, Melatonin are amongst the more popular ones, that new age fans favourite for treating insomnia.
4) Meditation and hypnosis: The one that cured insomnia in me. and the one that more and more people are turning to for treating insomnia in them. Study's and research have shown why hypnosis and meditation work, With a staggering 95% sucess rate.
